Portugal’s oldest town hosted today the official opening of the AMF Mobilidade Rally Series Ponte de Lima, with the long-awaited return of rallying celebrated in the heart of its historic center.
The highlight of Saturday was the event’s official parade, with the rally cars crossing the Medieval Bridge before being displayed at Largo de Camões in front of hundreds of fans and locals.
The shakedown of Round #3 of the Portugal Rally Series gave competitors their first competitive kilometers on the Arena Expolima course. With favorable weather conditions, drivers were able to assess their car setups ahead of an intense Sunday of competition. Several crews also used the session to get familiar with the urban surface before returning to the service area in the FanZone.
The FanZone set up in the heart of Expolima was once again one of the highlights of the day, attracting large crowds of fans and families. Partner activations, rally simulators, food areas, and an autograph session with several drivers kept the atmosphere lively throughout the afternoon, while the DJ Sunset carried the entertainment well into the night.
Competition gets underway on Sunday morning, with competitors tackling four runs through the Arena — featuring the double 360º by Castrol promising plenty of spectacle — and three runs on the iconic Cerquido stage.
The first stage of Round #3 starts at 10:13, and the day will conclude with the podium ceremony scheduled for 18:25.
